object
is
achieved
by
a
process
for
separating
aliphatic,
straight-chain
compounds
having
terminal
functional
groups
from
mixtures
containing
isomers

the
a-position.
The
process
comprises
the
addition
of
a
solvent
and
urea
to
the
mixture,
if
appropriate
heating
the
mixture,
allowing
a
urea
inclusion
compound
(clathrate)
formed
to
crystallize
out
by
subsequent
cooling,
and
liberating
the
aliphatic
compound
from
the
clathrate
which
has
crystallized.
