Stakeholder
/ˈsteɪkˌhoʊldər/
A stakeholder is any person or group with a vested interest in an organization, project, or decision, ranging from employees and customers to regulators and local communities. The term has been adopted wholesale into German business language, though native German equivalents remain common in formal and non-corporate writing.
1. Stakeholder · business
In German business and management contexts, the English loanword is used directly and is by far the most common choice.
2. Interessenträger [formal]
In formal, official, or academic texts, 'Interessenträger' (holder of interests) is the preferred German rendering when an English-free formulation is required.
3. Beteiligte
In everyday or non-business contexts, 'Beteiligte' (those involved) or 'betroffene Parteien' (affected parties) works well when referring to a broader, less corporate set of actors.
Notes
A frequent mix-up: a 'shareholder' is only one subset of stakeholders, those with an equity stake. When translating into German, prefer 'Interessenträger' over 'Interessenvertreter', as the latter can also imply a lobbyist or appointed spokesperson, a connotation absent from the original English term.
